Focus Group on Tube Formation and Branching Morphogenesis

Monn Monn Myat and Thomas N. Sato, Faculty coordinators

Tube formation and branching morphogenesis are two central processes essential for virtually all organogenesis across all multi-cellular organisms. The aim of this focus group is to discuss the historical perspectives of the development of this field and to discuss breakthrough papers. This discussion group will allow students to learn how important but difficult and challenging scientific questions arose and have been challenged and solved. Learning this is an essential step towards becoming an outstanding scientist and one of the best.

This is not a typical "journal-club" - this is a lively and interactive discussion group. Furthermore, in addition to Myat and Sato, we will also have a few guest faculty members who are world-experts in the field (they are listed in each session). Every student will have a chance to meet these guest faculty members during the discussion sessions as well as over an informal dinner.

As the discussion group meets during lunch time, please feel free to bring your own lunch. Some refreshment and drinks will be provided. We are also planning to hold some of the sessions off site - perhaps at an informal dinner table (TBA).
